On Wednesday, Caitlin Clark, a guard for the Indiana Fever, penned a new chapter in her incredible WNBA rookie season. Clark became just the sixth player in WNBA history to record multiple career triple-doubles when she recorded her second career triple-double in a victory over the Los Angeles Sparks (via StatMamba on X).
Clark keeps setting new records, being the only rookie in WNBA history to record even one triple-double. Prior to the victory on Wednesday, Clark was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month, and he carried that enthusiasm into the match against Los Angeles.
Clark finished the game with 24 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds; for the season, he is now averaging 18.9 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds.LeBron James, a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been a strong advocate for Clark during her rookie campaign. He responded to Clark’s triple-double on Instagram with five words.
By way of @kingjames: “HateRS, hello!!!!!! I adore it.
Despite their extreme differences, James and Clark both arrived in their respective leagues with a lot of excitement.
Though Clark’s career is still quite long, she is currently experiencing a historic rookie campaign, akin to that of James in 2003, when he won Rookie of the Year with an average of 20.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.5 rebounds. Since the Olympic break, Clark, one of the front-runners for Rookie of the Year, has improved her case.Clark is averaging 24.5 points, 9.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 47.8 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three since the WNBA schedule resumed.
Clark’s individual output has not been as significant as Indiana’s 7-1 record after the break, which has put them in sole possession of the sixth spot.
