It’s not only the fans singing the praises of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever recently. The Fever are enjoying an impressive five-game winning streak, largely thanks to Clark’s outstanding performance, which was recognized when she received Player of the Month honors for August.
Former Georgetown Hoyas player and current basketball analyst Monica McNutt has also joined in on the excitement surrounding Clark and the Fever. In a recent episode of ESPN’s “Around the Horn,” McNutt acknowledged their achievements, albeit to a certain degree.
“This is a significant milestone for this franchise,” McNutt remarked about Indiana, which has just secured a playoff berth for the first time since 2018. “Clearly, they are headed in the right direction.
“… You have to give some recognition to [head coach] Christie Sides, as many were calling for her job just three games ago. And naturally, Caitlin Clark deserves praise for her outstanding performance, which has far surpassed expectations.”
McNutt is impressed with the Fever’s accomplishments to date and has expressed her views on the matter. However, the ESPN analyst noted that she believes Clark is responsible for roughly 60 percent of Indiana’s impressive turnaround.
More than a few fans were not too happy about it. Some supporters even brought out their receipts to remind us of how McNutt previously picked Angel Reese over Clark for the Rookie of the Year title.
