This offseason, the Buffalo Bills took a machete to their roster, cutting a number of important veterans. For Bills Mafia, the farewell to safety Jordan Poyer was especially difficult.
Poyer signed with the Miami Dolphins, the Bills’ AFC East foe, following seven seasons in Buffalo. In Week 2, the 33-year-old, who has partnered with Bills quarterback Josh Allen since Buffalo selected him with the seventh overall choice in 2018, takes against the MVP front-runner for the first time in his career.
Before the Bills left for their Thursday Night Football matchup in Florida, Poyer made it plain that he would not be taking Allen and his former team lightly. September 9: “We’re going to be ready to play,” he said reporters. We are excited to play because this is going to be a fun game on saturday night.
Poyer gave his Dolphins teammates intimate knowledge on how to stop Allen from doing his job, but he remained reticent about the precise weaknesses they may find. Indeed, he replied, “I’ll keep those on the team.” Poyer is aware that stopping Allen won’t be simple after he passed for 242 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, in addition to two rushing scores.
“He became extremely irrational while engaging in his usual activities, such as running, hurling objects, and pushing people,” stated Poyer. Fantastic player, dude. I can’t wait to play against him for the first time because I’ve seen him do some insane stuff over the years. Thursday is going to be a great night.
