Sam Darnold, Brock Purdy’s previous backup, will rejoin him on Sunday when the Minnesota Vikings play the San Francisco 49ers. Before signing a free agent contract with the Vikings this year, Darnold was just a 49ers player for one season. He was Purdy’s insurance option with the Niners as he healed from offseason surgery.
Looking back on their time together, Purdy was appreciative of what Darnold brought to the quarterback room.
“Sam is the one.” That’s what I told everyone,” Purdy declared on Thursday. “I adore Sam, both as a person and for what he accomplished for this team last season with Brandon [Allen] and me in the quarterback room. He entered, gave me everything he had, and assisted me in getting ready.
Brock Purdy will face his former backup, Sam Darnold, when the Minnesota Vikings take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Darnold joined the Vikings this season after a brief stint with the 49ers, where he supported Purdy during his recovery from surgery. Purdy expressed appreciation for Darnold’s contributions to the team’s quarterback unit, praising his support and preparation. The upcoming game against Darnold excites Purdy, acknowledging Darnold’s skills and competitive spirit. Defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen also commended Darnold’s talent and growth since his high draft selection in 2018. Player Deommodore Lenoir, who practiced against Darnold, feels confident about facing him in the upcoming match.

Deommodore Lenoir, a player for Sorensen, thinks he will have an advantage over Darnold on Sunday because of his practice experience against the quarterback. The assured cornerback answered without hesitation when asked who he believes will win the game.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll win that. Lenoir replied, “I think I’ll win,” through Jake Hutchinson of Audacy. “Sam and I have this connection where he likes to toss the ball to me. I’m arriving this week,
