The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday that star linebacker Von Miller will serve a four-game unpaid suspension for “violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.” He is set to return on October 28, following the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
The specific incident that led to Miller’s suspension has not been disclosed by either the team or the NFL.
In November 2023, he surrendered to authorities on an arrest warrant stemming from a third-degree felony assault charge involving a pregnant woman, as reported by ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg. At that time, the league decided not to place him on paid leave, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.
Miller has denied the accusations, and the alleged victim later recanted her statement in November, though it remains unclear if she cooperated with the league’s investigation. Florio points out that the NFL is not required to adhere to the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard and can opt to believe the alleged victim’s initial account.
Miller managed to make three sacks during the first four games of the season but did not record any statistics in the recent 35-10 defeat to Baltimore.
