With the Chicago Blackhawks, Connor Bedard is a future superstar, but he is not the kind of athlete you expect to see sparring.
That’s just what he did against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. Bedard got into a fistfight with Zack Bolduc during which he began to throw hands. Things did got violent, even if he did not take off the gloves entirely. When Bedard finally managed to take Bolduc out cold, there was quite the melee.
The fight can be found at the following site, but we are not allowed to air it on Hockey Unplugged.
Bedard discussed his choice to fight and what started the whole affair after the game. In the end, all he wanted to do was bat for his teammates.
“As I was getting into it, our entire crew entered the room. That’s the kind of brotherhood you need, and it’s funny to watch Korch sort of laugh at them.”
Luke Richardson, the head coach of the Blackhawks, had far less enthusiasm for Bedard’s fight. He expressed to reporters that he hoped his forward will refrain from doing this in the future.
“Connor ought to avoid getting involved in that stuff, in my opinion.” However, I appreciate his way of thinking and his attitude that he won’t take anything from anyone.”
