The stunning decision by Kent Hughes and his team to cut forward Joshua Roy may be the biggest story for the Montreal Canadiens today.
It was disclosed earlier today that Joshua Roy failed to lock down a spot with the Habs despite Patrik Laine’s injury.
He was cut and will play with the Laval Rocket for the first part of the 2024–2025 season, at least.
Many are referring to Roy’s situation as a wasted opportunity because he most likely ought to have made the club and possesses the talent necessary to play in the NHL. Nonetheless, certain specialists assert that he performed ‘like a player who thought his spot was guaranteed.’
He, or at least his sources, claim that one of Joshua Roy’s main problems stems from the choices he makes off the rink.
And he is not the first to publicly mention something like this.
Since this isn’t my knowledge and I’m only repeating what was said this morning on BPM Sports, I’ll stop there to avoid going overboard. I should also mention that I’ve heard this before.
I hope Joshua Roy puts in a tonne of effort with the Laval Rocket, silences his detractors, and comes back to Montreal stronger. Stay tuned.
In his situation, talent is absolutely, positively not a problem.
