During the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders, aired on TVA Sports, Renaud Lavoie conducted an interview with Patrick Roy.
We strongly suggest checking out the complete report, available on TVA Sports’ website.
A notable moment from the interview was when Lavoie and Roy talked about his famous encounter with the Montreal Canadiens a few years back regarding a significant position within the organization. While many remember this incident, the former #33 seems to have forgotten it, leading to some humorous moments.
When Lavoie questioned him about this meeting, Patrick Roy claimed he “doesn’t remember” discussing a job with the Canadiens, suggesting it might be due to his selective memory.
His response certainly raised eyebrows.
Here’s how that part of the conversation went:
“I don’t remember,” joked the vibrant coach with a touch of dry humor.
“It must be in my selective memory,” Lavoie remarked, laughing.
“We all have a selective memory,” Roy responded with a smile.
Why won’t Roy just acknowledge that he did meet with the Habs? Only he can answer that.
It could be related to confidentiality, but it hardly qualifies as the biggest secret in the history of the Montreal Canadiens.
Regardless, we know how things turned out.
Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis were brought on in Montreal and are doing a fantastic job, while Patrick Roy has finally received his opportunity with Lou Lamoriello’s New York Islanders.
We wish him an exciting 2024-2025 season, his first full one on Long Island.
