Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin received a $5,000 fine from the NHL on Tuesday for high-sticking Florida Panthers forward Anton Lundell. This fine is the maximum allowed by the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
The incident took place with 7:02 left in the third period during the Panthers’ 5-2 win over the Sabres on Monday, shortly before Dahlin received a minor penalty for slashing.
On Monday, Dahlin also netted his first goal of the season in the second period, and at 24 years old, he currently has five assists and eight penalty minutes over 10 games this season. Overall, Dahlin has recorded 298 points (67 goals and 231 assists) in 446 career games since being the first overall pick by the Sabres in the 2018 NHL Draft.
