The Buffalo Bills are developing an offense that is both balanced and explosive. We recognize the dominance Josh Allen can exhibit in every game, but it’s the running game that prevents defenses from solely targeting him.
James Cook, who was set for a breakout season, is meeting all expectations, catching the attention of Thurman Thomas, the most esteemed running back in Bills history. Thomas remarked on Cook’s growing confidence, suggesting that he is emerging as a key player in the offense. “If you take Josh [Allen] out of the equation, he’s the next guy up. He can both catch and run well. He’s becoming more comfortable, especially knowing he has strong support behind him,” Thomas noted, referring to Cook’s positive mindset within the offense.
“They’re executing effectively, particularly with the running game, and the offensive line is committed to establishing the run. This alleviates some pressure from Josh. Cook is performing at a level that could likely earn him another Pro Bowl selection,” Thomas added.
Following last Sunday’s game in Seattle, where Cook achieved over 100 rushing yards and scored two rushing touchdowns for the first time in his career, his performance stands out as particularly impressive, especially since Allen also managed over 300 total yards of offense. This indicates the Bills can successfully integrate both their rushing and passing attacks in a single game.
This week, the Bills will look to maintain their balanced strategy as they face the Miami Dolphins, aiming to extend their lead in the AFC East.
