Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis has notably shifted his tone. After maintaining a calm and patient demeanor since the season began, the disappointing performance against the Washington Capitals appears to have been a tipping point.
The atmosphere has changed, and the players faced consequences during this morning’s practice.
A press conference was held today, as announced by the Canadiens, where St-Louis continued to express his firm stance from yesterday.
Following the disciplinary measures he enacted on his players, he emphasized the need for improvement.
From Washington, St-Louis addressed the media after the punitive session, stating, “We need to adjust certain habits on the ice and shift our mindset. Without these changes, consistency in the league will be elusive, and we won’t achieve streaks of 4, 5, or 6 wins. Winning is crucial, but right now, the focus is on altering our habits and mindset.”
He also remarked, “Everything in life, including patience, has a shelf life.”
It’s now up to the players to step up and elevate their performance, and personally, I appreciated today’s developments, including captain Nick Suzuki’s strong message to reporters in Washington.
