Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield has made another thoughtful gesture to honor his friend Johnny Gaudreau, reflecting their strong friendship. To commemorate Gaudreau, Caufield changed his jersey number from 22 to 13, which is the number of “Johnny Hockey.”
Caufield has also started the season exceptionally well, scoring 10 goals in 14 games.
Additionally, the Canadiens’ organization recently announced that Caufield has added “ELOC,” Gaudreau’s nickname for him, to his official sticks. This gesture highlights the deep bond between them, especially following the tragic loss of Gaudreau a few months ago.
At just 23 years old, Caufield stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 175 pounds. He became close friends with his idol, Gaudreau, after being drafted 15th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2019. In his NHL career, he has tallied 160 points, including 91 goals, over 219 games. This season, he has recorded 10 goals and 1 assist (11 points) in 14 games.
