On a day set aside to recognize military veterans of the United States Armed Forces, the men’s basketball teams from Duke and Army West Point revealed plans for a future game between the Blue Devils and Black Knights, scheduled to take place in West Point, New York, on Veterans Day in 2025.
This matchup on November 11, 2025, will mark the 17th encounter between Duke and Army, with their first game occurring on January 13, 1932. The initial seven games in the series were held at Army from 1932 to 1939, with the last time Duke played in West Point being in 1997.
“It’s always a privilege to go up against Army, and we’re incredibly eager to play at West Point next year on Veterans Day to honor all those who have served in our military,” commented Duke men’s basketball head coach Jon Scheyer. “Participating at West Point is special, allowing us to immerse ourselves in their culture, face challenges on the road early in the season, and engage in something that transcends a typical basketball game. Our program has a long-standing relationship with Army through Coach K, and I’ve gained insights during my time at Duke as a player and assistant coach regarding the principles and values instilled in him during his West Point years. It will be a memorable occasion celebrating both of our programs alongside all who have served in our armed forces.”
In addition to the game on Veterans Day in 2025, the agreement includes a rematch at Cameron Indoor Stadium during the fall of 2026, with the specific date yet to be determined.
The 2025 game will be Duke’s first appearance at Christl Arena in West Point since November 16, 1997, when the Blue Devils started the 1997-98 season under head coach Mike Krzyzewski, a 1969 West Point graduate and 2009 inductee into the Army Sports Hall of Fame. Krzyzewski made his mark at West Point first as a player and later as the head coach, before transitioning to the head coaching position at Duke in 1980.
