After Kent Hughes and several journalists dismissed his scoop, Laraque spoke out, stating:
“There are two possibilities here: either the Canadiens are denying it to keep it under wraps or my friend doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He sent us a picture of the person he saw, and also shared an image of Gerard Gallant, claiming that’s who he recognized.
I asked my friend if he’d be willing to confirm this live on air if it came to that, and he agreed, just in case there were doubts.
