The Kentucky Wildcats have a full week to rest after their impressive win over the Duke Blue Devils in the Champions Classic on Tuesday night. With no upcoming games for several days, we are now anticipating the release of the next college basketball rankings on Monday.
Kentucky is expected to move up from their current positions of #19 in the AP Poll and #18 in the Coaches Poll.
The main question is how much higher they should climb in the rankings.
A significant factor affecting their ranking will be the performances of the teams ahead of them. Notable matchups to watch this weekend include (2) Alabama at (13) Purdue, (15) Marquette at Maryland, (9) Arizona at Wisconsin, and (16) Indiana hosting South Carolina.
Regardless of other results, it would be difficult to exclude Kentucky from the top 15 after their win against Duke. For example, Auburn recently moved up six spots in the AP Poll after defeating the previously 4th-ranked Houston. If I had to make a prediction, I would expect Kentucky to climb 4-6 positions.
