A player had to have emergency surgery following Thursday night’s matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota Wild.
Forward Mats Zuccarello underwent urgent surgery shortly after exiting the game due to being hit by a puck. He has since been placed on injured reserve following the game against the Canadiens. This is a significant setback for Minnesota, as a shot from his teammate Brock Faber struck him in the groin.
TVA Sports reported, “We learned today that the 37-year-old Norwegian underwent emergency surgery last night. He is expected to be out for approximately three to four weeks.” The Wild’s victory came at a high cost, as they also lost center Joel Eriksson Ek that night. More updates will come, but these injuries present major concerns for the team.
Zuccarello, who is 37 years old, stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 181 pounds. He was Minnesota’s third-highest scorer this season, with 14 points in 16 games, trailing Kirill Kaprizov with 30 points and Matthew Boldy with 17.
Last season, the seasoned player tallied 63 points in 69 games, bringing his career total to 650 points over 851 NHL games.
His journey is truly inspiring, and we wish him a swift and healthy recovery.
