The Chicago Bears have elevated Thomas Brown from passing game coordinator to their new offensive coordinator. The former Georgia Bulldogs running back steps in for Shane Waldron, who was let go after a challenging start to the season despite the presence of talented players around quarterback Caleb Williams, the top pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Currently, the Bears rank as the ninth-lowest scoring offense in the league, averaging 19.4 points per game.
Brown previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2023, where he was the play-caller during a difficult 2-15 season, particularly in the latter half. He had been interviewed for the offensive coordinator position with the Bears before the season began, but they chose to hire him as passing game coordinator then. Now, Brown will have the chance to demonstrate his capabilities and justify his new role.
Prior to his time in Carolina and Chicago, Brown worked as an offensive assistant under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams and is well-regarded across the NFL.
