The 2024 season has been a bit tumultuous for the Georgia Bulldogs, but they recently achieved a significant victory over Tennessee in Week 12, largely thanks to quarterback Carson Beck’s impressive performance. On Tuesday, head coach Kirby Smart acknowledged Beck’s efforts with a brief two-word message.
Beck’s season has been inconsistent; he has thrown for 2,835 yards and accumulated 20 total touchdowns, but he also leads the SEC with 12 interceptions. His performances have varied, with some poor outings contributing to Georgia’s two losses, and even some of their wins have seen him struggle. Nevertheless, the Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 8 in the nation, and it’s evident that Beck remains a vital player for the team. To celebrate his 23rd birthday, Smart expressed his appreciation for Beck with a birthday message.
While Smart and Beck haven’t always had the smoothest relationship—often facing media scrutiny—Smart has continued to support his quarterback amidst calls for his replacement. Beck is likely spending his birthday with loved ones while also preparing for the upcoming Week 13 game against UMass Amherst, who recently dismissed their head coach, Don Brown.
Georgia is in a good position, but they need to win their last two regular-season games against unranked opponents UMass and Georgia Tech to enhance their chances of making it into the College Football Playoff. As the starting quarterback, Beck is expected to shoulder much of the responsibility to keep the team’s momentum going in the upcoming game against UMass, scheduled to kick off at 12:45 PM EST on Saturday, Nov. 23rd.
