Chicago Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson is dealing with a right hand injury sustained from a high shot during Thursday’s match against the Florida Panthers.
As the team’s most dependable two-way forward, Dickinson deflected a puck with his right hand during the second period. The 29-year-old briefly left the game to go to the locker room, missing most of the period but returned for the third as the Blackhawks secured a 3-1 win. Head coach Luke Richardson mentioned after the game that Dickinson “gutted out” the final 20 minutes and will need further assessment.
Dickinson sat out Friday’s practice for maintenance, but there was a positive update when Richardson indicated he is likely to play Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
With Chicago being a low-scoring team that relies heavily on defense, Dickinson’s leadership among forwards is crucial. Losing him for any extended period, especially with Seth Jones already out on defense, would disrupt the team’s defensive setup, making Friday’s positive news a relief for the Blackhawks.
Having ended a three-game losing streak with Thursday’s win, Chicago aims to gain momentum in their Saturday afternoon game against the Flyers, set to start at noon CT and broadcasted on Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) and NHL Network.
