In the second segment of the podcast, we have Danick, a die-hard fan of the Canadiens and Rocket, who has gained recognition on HFTV’s social media platforms. You might spot him outside the Bell Centre, passionately cheering with tattoos on his face.
Jean inquired whether Danick had ever been offered a position with the Canadiens, and Danick was quite firm in his response:
“Even if they reached out, I wouldn’t consider it. That’s not something I’m interested in […] I understand the insular environment of the Canadiens, and I’m not the type to follow orders like: turn left, turn right, do a few laps, look good, just enjoy a drink.
It would mean a total shift in my character.” – Danick
It’s intriguing that a dedicated super fan of a team wouldn’t want to work for that same team.
Shortly after, Danick revealed that he has been hired by several teams in Quebec (mainly in senior leagues), which provides him with some extra income.
I assume these teams give him the freedom to express himself.
Danick mentioned that some Canadiens players and executives might be wary of his reactions when they encounter him. Organizations often feel uneasy around individuals who are unconventional and outside of their control…
Such people tend to be seen as unpredictable!
I’d like to reassure Danick that there are agents who probably view Jean and me—two of the friendliest individuals in the Québec sports community—similarly.
Ultimately, individuals who are true to themselves and prioritize their own agenda rather than conforming to others can appear threatening to those who are more risk-averse.
Being seen as intimidating for your independence and bravery isn’t inherently negative. If Canadiens fans were more like Danick instead of the corporate suits attending games just because their companies cover the costs, the atmosphere at the arena would greatly improve. #Passion
Alright, enough of this Thursday introspection: let’s hear about the Canadiens, Danick!
