We have an update on Kirby Dach, the young forward for the Montreal Canadiens. Despite the team’s recent success, things aren’t looking up for Dach after being demoted by St. Louis last week.
Last night, during the game against the Nashville Predators, Dach was penalized by head coach Martin St. Louis.
“Kirby Dach needs to find some consistency. While he played decently, he committed a critical penalty in the third period and didn’t return to the ice,” St. Louis pointed out both during and after the game.

Lane Hutson had limited playtime, which can be seen as a positive.
After the match, Martin St. Louis reiterated his message to Dach following the penalty he received.
This reflects the “hard coaching” philosophy we’ve been hearing about.
Dach, now 23, was largely “benched” for the remainder of the third period, ending the game with under 13 minutes of ice time. That’s tough.
It’s worth noting again that if Dach can develop into a star player in the NHL, it would be a significant boost for the Montreal Canadiens and their rebuilding efforts.
