We have an update regarding player movements within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Let’s revisit that last Friday, young goaltender Jakub Dobes sustained an injury during the game against the Toronto Marlies. While we lack information on how long he will be sidelined, it’s often noted that actions speak louder than words.
In terms of immediate actions, a goaltender has been elevated in the ranks.
Hunter Jones has been called up by the Laval Rocket. It appears that Dobes won’t be returning to the net anytime soon.
Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, Dobes has an impressive record this season of 8 wins, 3 losses, and 1 overtime loss, along with a goals-against average of 2.55 and a save percentage of 0.904.
In the meantime, 24-year-old Hunter Jones, a second-round pick of the Minnesota Wild from 2019, is set to strengthen the Laval Rocket. He measures 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 194 pounds.
Jones has shown promising potential, with a record of 4 wins, 0 losses, and 3 overtime losses this season with the Trois-Rivières Lions, recording a 3.11 goals-against average and a save percentage of 0.909.
Could this personnel change lead to further adjustments? With Luke Cavallin, Hunter Jones, and Connor Hughes now with the Laval Rocket, there’s a possibility that Hughes might be called up if Cayden Primeau continues to struggle in the NHL.
More information will be provided later.
For now, it looks like Cavallin and Jones are well-equipped to deliver solid performances for the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate.
