Garner is the 14th transfer acquisition for the program and the fifth player added to the defensive line. The redshirt freshman comes in with three years of eligibility left.
In the 2024 season, Garner amassed 11 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble as a redshirt freshman. He is expected to provide additional depth to a Wisconsin defensive line that has been a focal point during this transfer period. The Badgers lost seasoned defensive tackles Curt Neal and James Thompson Jr. early in the cycle, along with pass-rusher Leon Lowery. To strengthen the tackle position, they brought in Parker Petersen (Tulane), Corey Walker (Western Michigan), and Charles Perkins (UT-Martin), and added Mason Reiger (Louisville) for edge rusher experience.
Garner is among the many Wisconsin transfer newcomers who have moved up from the Football Championship Subdivision or Division III, reflecting a pattern seen during each of Luke Fickell’s offseasons as head coach.
