Wisconsin secured vital support for its secondary for the 2025 season with the commitment of transfer cornerback Geimere Latimer from Conference USA on Tuesday morning.
Latimer shared photos in a Wisconsin uniform on social media, addressing Badger fans with the message, “Badger nation what’s good?!” He previously played at Jacksonville State, where he contributed to the Gamecocks’ impressive 9-win season in 2024, culminating in a 52-12 victory over Western Kentucky in the Conference USA Championship Game. In that game, the sophomore recorded 3 tackles, including 1 solo effort, to help Jacksonville State achieve this milestone in their second season as an FBS team.
Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 187 pounds, Latimer, a Georgia native, tallied 46 tackles (24 solo) during the 2024 season. As a freshman in 2023, he had 10 tackles (7 solo), along with a forced fumble and an interception.
Latimer becomes Wisconsin’s first cornerback acquisition of this transfer cycle and their 17th overall commitment (including 16 scholarship transfers and 1 walk-on). He will have two years of eligibility remaining when he arrives in Madison next fall.
Initially, Latimer joined Jacksonville State as an unranked recruit in the class of 2023, but he quickly made his mark by participating in all 13 games during his freshman season. He then had a breakout year, playing a crucial role in Jacksonville State’s surprising conference championship victory.
