After a strong start of 12-3 in their 2024-25 season, the Golden State Warriors have drastically declined. Their recent 115-113 defeat to the LA Lakers was their 11th loss in the past 14 games, bringing their record to 15-14.
Despite a standout 38-point game from superstar Steph Curry on Christmas Day, the Warriors fell short. Curry shot 8-15 from three-point range, with only Trayce Jackson-Davis and Andrew Wiggins stepping up to support him. Although the two forwards performed well alongside Curry in the starting lineup, overall contributions were lacking.
Jackson-Davis indicated that the Warriors held a player-led meeting prior to their game against the Lakers, during which Curry delivered a candid message aimed at motivating the team. He reportedly stated, “This can go one way or the other,” highlighting the critical juncture the team faces.
Unfortunately, the meeting did not yield the desired results, reflecting Curry’s concerns about the team’s struggles. With just three wins in their last 14 games, the situation is dire as they navigate a turning point in the season.
The Lakers were propelled by LeBron James, who scored 31 points, and Austin Reaves, who contributed 26 points along with the game-winning shot. Despite executing well during the game, the Warriors were unable to secure the vital victory they needed.
Currently sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference, the Warriors’ schedule is unlikely to ease up. They will have chances to revive their season, but improved consistency is crucial if they hope to succeed.
