The Badgers are aiming to strengthen their cornerback position, which has lost considerable depth due to the transfer portal this month, in addition to the uncertain status of projected starter Xavier Lucas. This area is currently the team’s most pressing need during the transfer process.
Garcia has entered the portal after spending two seasons at William & Mary, where he redshirted in 2023 and played in 14 games in 2024, accumulating 19 total tackles (14 solo) and 11 pass deflections. His performance earned him Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-American recognition.
Wisconsin is facing competition from reported offers from Maryland, Cincinnati, UMass, Western Kentucky, Eastern Carolina, Sacramento State, Utah State, and Akron. Garcia could provide valuable depth to the Badgers’ cornerback roster, potentially stepping in as a day-one starter, and he has three years of eligibility remaining.
Last offseason, Wisconsin brought in outside linebacker John Pius from William & Mary. Although Pius didn’t meet expectations as a top linebacker for the Badgers in 2024, the team seems willing to continue targeting high-profile transfers.
