Former Kentucky wide receiver Hardley Gilmore is reportedly set to transfer to Nebraska, as per Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
The 4-star true freshman was a pivotal player in a struggling Kentucky passing attack, amassing 6 receptions for 153 yards and 1 touchdown during the season. While these statistics may not seem impressive, they reflect his limited playtime—only 5 games—due to a collarbone injury sustained in the preseason. He ranked as the No. 149 player in the 2024 class, making his departure a significant loss for the Wildcats, who had been working hard to keep him on the team.
When healthy, Gilmore demonstrated the potential to be a valuable asset for the team in forthcoming seasons, which is particularly challenging for Kentucky’s receiving corps now filled primarily with inexperienced true freshmen.
At Nebraska, Gilmore will have three years of eligibility left and will reunite with former Wildcats wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts and former Kentucky starter Dane Key. As for the Wildcats, how they utilize the transfer portal to address their wide receiver needs will be worth monitoring as they head into 2025, given it is currently their most pressing position concern.
