The Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team began their Southeastern Conference season on Thursday night at the Historical Memorial Coliseum, decisively defeating Mississippi State with a score of 91-69.
Guards Dazia Lawrence and Georgia Amoore had standout performances, combining for 55 points while shooting 17 for 30 from the field and an impressive 14 for 21 from beyond the arc.
The team set a new school record by hitting 18 three-pointers during the game.
Amelia Hassett and Teonni Key also contributed to the scoring with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
This performance ranked among their best offensive displays of the season, second only to their opening game against USC Upstate, where they scored 98 points back in early November.
On the defensive end, the Wildcats were tenacious, limiting Mississippi State to 35% shooting overall and just 26% from three-point range.
With this win, Kentucky has secured five straight victories, boosting their season record to 12-1.
Next, they will quickly head to Nashville for a match against Vanderbilt, scheduled for 3 PM ET on Sunday, which will be available for streaming on SEC Network Plus.
