The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team may have an edge in the competition to recruit Harun Zrno, an exciting 6’6 wing from Bosnia, following his positive remarks about the program after his official visit.
Zrno, a 21-year-old freshman, will be eligible to play by the fall of 2025. The University of Wisconsin, which is enjoying a five-game winning streak, is one of several basketball programs vying for his commitment as he considers his options.
According to Nick Osen of 247 Sports, Zrno was impressed by the Badgers during his visit. He noted that their style of play closely resembled that of his team back home in Bosnia, particularly after watching a film of one of their games. “I really like their style of play and everything. They told me that they really love that I am playing a really similar game back home,” he commented.
Zrno also spoke highly of coach Greg Gard and the Badgers’ overall environment. “The coaching staff is awesome, and the culture they have in the program is amazing. Everyone cares about each other, and that culture really stands out,” he noted.
To secure Zrno’s commitment, the Badgers will need to enhance their recruiting efforts. Prior to visiting Wisconsin, he had also toured Indiana. Other schools reportedly in pursuit of the international prospect include Creighton, Virginia, Gonzaga, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, and Kansas State, with visits planned to those schools in February.
The attention on Zrno is backed by his performance; he is currently averaging 20 points per game in Bosnia, shooting 48% from three-point range.
