Nashville Predators forward Jonathan Marchessault expressed his excitement about reuniting with former teammates when the Vegas Golden Knights visit on Tuesday, speaking with Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing my teammates whom I played with for many years and achieved victory alongside,” Marchessault shared with Webster. “That’s what I’m most eager about. I can’t wait to see the guys.”
Marchessault was with the Golden Knights for seven seasons as an original member of the team and holds franchise records for goals (192), points (417), and power-play goals (42). He also participated in two Stanley Cup Finals, winning one and earning the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2023.
However, his departure wasn’t on the best terms. The Golden Knights and Marchessault couldn’t reach a new contract agreement, leading him to sign a five-year contract with the Predators for an average annual value of $5.5 million on July 1.
“When July 1 came around, I felt sad about not being part of that anymore, especially knowing it’s such a great organization,” Marchessault remarked. “While they have a reputation for being tough, they operate a performance-based team. Their approach can be tough at times, but it’s effective. I genuinely cherish everyone involved in that organization and am extremely thankful for my seven years there. It was an incredible experience.”
