As the 2024-25 season approaches its final stages, keep an eye on New York.
On Monday’s Daily Faceoff LIVE, hosts Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discussed the impressive turnaround of the Manhattan team, which is now just three points away from securing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Let’s review the weekend’s game outcomes. The Boston Bruins and New York Rangers are in similar standings but are trending in opposite directions. The Rangers are currently two points behind the Bruins and have a game in hand. They have only one regulation loss in their last ten games, while the Bruins have a record of 3-5-2 in that same span. If you had to wager on one, which team do you think has a better chance of making the playoffs?
Frank Seravalli: I would bet on the Rangers. They are certainly the more skilled team. With just one regulation loss in their last ten games, they’ve secured points in nine out of those ten. They are returning to the level of performance we expected from them, after struggling for a while. They are regaining their confidence and momentum. The Rangers possess strengths that few other teams in the congested Eastern Conference can match, such as star power, top talent, and one of the league’s best goalies. Is their defense undergoing changes? Yes, I have four of their players listed as Trade Targets, and I anticipate adjustments before the March 7 trade deadline. Nevertheless, if I had to choose any team from the crowded field, I would pick the Rangers to make the playoffs.
