The Canadiens announced prior to Wednesday morning’s practice at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard that forward Owen Beck has been reassigned to the AHL’s Laval Rocket. The 20-year-old forward was called up from Laval last Sunday after achieving 9 goals and 16 assists for a total of 25 points with a plus-9 rating in 37 games as a rookie with the Rocket.
Beck played on the fourth line alongside Jake Evans and Joel Armia during Sunday night’s 5-4 overtime victory over the New York Rangers, and again in Tuesday’s 3-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He logged 8:13 of ice time against the Rangers and 6:57 against the Lightning but did not score in either game. Although Beck is primarily a center, he played left wing, positioned with Evans at center and Armia on the right.
The Canadiens drafted Beck in the second round, choosing him 33rd overall in the 2022 NHL Draft.
The Rocket will face the Hershey Bears on Wednesday at Place Bell (7 p.m., RDS). The Canadiens will play the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday (7 p.m., TSN2, RDS) before returning home to face the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at the Bell Centre (7 p.m., Citytv, SNE, TVA Sports).
