On Wednesday afternoon, the Huskers extended an offer to another promising high school football player, this one just finishing his freshman year.
Wide receiver Damarion Mays emerged as one of Texas’s standout wideouts during his freshman season. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 175 pounds, Mays was the leading receiver for Life Oak Cliff High School, accounting for more than half of the Lions’ total offense.
Over ten games, he recorded 68 receptions for 1,640 yards and 14 touchdowns, ranking third in Texas for total receiving yards according to MaxPreps. Mays also made a significant impact on special teams, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns on only three attempts.
He had three games with over 200 receiving yards, with his most impressive performance coming in the season finale, where he caught 13 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns.
Mays received his offer from Nebraska after a discussion with senior football assistant Jamar Mozee. In addition to the Huskers, he has also garnered offers from Arizona, Miami, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.
