Wisconsin fans weren’t particularly supporting either team but were cheering for Zack Baun. The former Wisconsin Badger has emerged as a star linebacker in the NFL, being named an All-Pro this year and a contender for Defensive Player of the Year. His journey is one of the most fascinating in the league, as he signed a one-year “prove-it” deal with the Eagles after being low on the depth chart with the New Orleans Saints.
Baun’s performance in the Super Bowl was outstanding; he topped the Eagles in tackles and intercepted Patrick Mahomes late in the first half. He was everywhere on the field, playing a significant role in hampering the Chiefs’ offense. His achievements are impressive, and now…
Zack Baun, the former Badger, is a Super Bowl champion. He enters the offseason in a position to become one of the highest-paid linebackers, thanks to his stellar performance throughout the season with the Eagles. Badger fans took to social media to celebrate his win.

Baun has surpassed all expectations this season, including his own. He had a $500K incentive in his one-year contract for making it to the Pro Bowl, which he initially found amusing, as he “didn’t think I could reach it at this point in my career.” Despite his skepticism, he not only met that goal but also went on to win a Super Bowl.
He becomes the 17th Badger to lift the Lombardi trophy, marking the fifth consecutive year that a Wisconsin player has claimed the Super Bowl title. The last time there wasn’t a Badger among the champions was in 2020. The most recent Badger to win it before this year was Leo Chenal of the Kansas City Chiefs, who triumphed in 2023 and 2024.
