The Sunday People has reported that Middlesbrough rejected West Ham’s £12.5m bid for Morgan Rogers, and the Hammers have now withdrawn their interest, leaving Aston Villa with a clear path to sign the forward. However, Boro are not under pressure to sell Rogers and have set a valuation that Villa has not yet met. Villa has made two unsuccessful bids for Rogers so far. The 21-year-old is excited about the possibility of joining Villa and working with Emery before the transfer deadline on Thursday. Rogers has a four-year contract with Boro, and Manchester City has a sell-on clause that prevents Boro from lowering their valuation. Rogers has scored two goals and provided six assists in 26 Championship appearances this season and helped Boro reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals, scoring five goals and providing two assists. Michael Carrick has been asked about Rogers’ future but said that he is still a Boro player and that people should not read too much into transfer rumors.
