In 2023, the Carolina Panthers began the NFL season with high hopes, only to end up as the league’s worst team. Despite selecting Bryce Young as the first overall pick, his rookie year was fraught with difficulties, largely due to inadequate protection, coaching, and receiver play. This disastrous season prompted a much-needed discussion about the Panthers’ roster and how they could improve.
One of the most glaring weaknesses in the Panthers’ offense was the lack of a true No. 1 wide receiver. To address this issue, the front office should consider trading for San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk, who is undoubtedly the best “pure” wide receiver on the 49ers’ roster. Although he led the 49ers in receiving targets, yards, and touchdowns, rumors suggest that he may be available for trade.
After the 49ers’ disappointing loss in Super Bowl LVIII, in which Aiyuk finished with three catches for 49 yards despite being open for most of the game, his friends and loved ones took to social media to suggest that he may not be a 49er in the next season. This speculation is supported by the saying “where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” Check out the 33rd Team’s tweet below for more information.
