John Butler, who had been with the Buffalo Bills for over six years, recently decided it was time for a change. The 50-year-old coach and passing game coordinator reached a mutual agreement with the team earlier this month to end his tenure as the defensive backs coach.
Bobby Babich was recently named the new defensive coordinator for the Bills by head coach Sean McDermott, a position that Butler had also been vying for. Butler bears no ill will towards Babich but recognized that it was time for him to seek other opportunities after being passed over for the DC role.
McDermott has expressed his good wishes for his former DB coach. Although he would have liked Butler to stay, McDermott understands that Butler must explore other opportunities.
