Today marks day two of the 2024 NFL Combine, following yesterday’s first day of testing. Around 321 players (with potential changes based on those who have declined invitations) will participate in workouts, mental tests, and interviews in front of all 32 NFL teams to increase their draft stock.
The Buffalo Bills, who fell short in the playoffs last season, have 10 draft picks this year and are seeking to strengthen their roster with young talent. I have identified some prospects that I believe the Bills will be interested in, and I will focus on them during this week’s combine.
To cover this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, we will take a daily approach and discuss the position groups featured each day. Here is the combine schedule:
Day 1 – Thursday, February 29, 3 p.m. EST: Defensive Linemen, Linebackers
Day 2 – Friday, March 1, 3 p.m. EST: Defensive Backs, Tight Ends
Day 3 – Saturday, March 2, 1 p.m. EST: Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, Running Backs
Day 4 – Sunday, March 3, 1 p.m. EST: Offensive Linem
On Friday, March 1, Day 2 of the combine, I was eager to see Cooper DeJean from Iowa in action. DeJean is an exceptional athlete, but unfortunately, he couldn’t participate in any drills due to an injury. This setback could make him less desirable to some teams, potentially even causing the Bills to consider him with the 28th overall pick. While I don’t believe that cornerback is the team’s greatest positional need, it’s worth discussing. On the other hand, Cam Hart from Notre Dame is a solid prospect with good size at 6’2″. He performed well at the senior bowl and is currently a borderline Day 2/Day 3 prospect. However, an impressive showing at the combine could bump him up to Day 2 consideration.
Florida State’s Jarrian Jones could be a valuable addition to the Bills’ CB room, as they have a history of finding talent in late rounds. The Bills may consider top safety prospects Kamren Kinchens from Miami and Tyler Nubin from Minnesota, but it may not make sense to take them in the first round. Cole Bishop from Utah is a promising option for the Bills at safety, as he brings versatility and athleticism to the secondary and could make an immediate impact. Bishop is expected to be drafted on Day 2 of the draft.
