The Saints have the most expensive backfield in the NFL, followed by the 49ers. The 49ers acquired Christian McCaffrey to compensate for Jimmy Garoppolo’s limitations, as investing in the run game is a logical strategy when a team has a mediocre quarterback. However, Brock Purdy is not a mediocre quarterback, but rather a Pro Bowl player who would benefit from a strong offensive line and open receivers. The 49ers could trade McCaffrey for a first-round pick and still maintain a strong running game with Elijah Mitchell, Jordan Mason, and Deebo Samuel. With the first-round pick, the team could improve their passing game by selecting an offensive lineman or tight end. As they now have a Pro Bowl quarterback, it is time to optimize the passing game to increase their chances of winning a Super Bowl.
