There is much room for improvement in the upcoming season for the Carolina Panthers. One of their top priorities will be acquiring a skilled defensive tackle, such as the Indianapolis Colts’ Grover Stewart, when free agency opens.
The Panthers endured a difficult start last season, losing their first six games for the first time since 1988. Despite breaking this streak, the team struggled and ultimately the head coach, Frank Reich, was fired and replaced by interim coach Chris Tabor.
Unfortunately, this change did not bring about any improvements and the Panthers ended the regular season with a dismal record of 2-15. This was the worst performance among all NFL teams, resulting in the Panthers receiving six picks in the upcoming draft.
The Panthers do not possess any first-round picks due to them being traded in 2023 in order to secure a higher draft pick that year. However, they still have the option to utilize free agency in order to improve their team for the upcoming season. One player they should consider is Grover Stewart from the Colts, whose expected contract in free agency is worth $30 million. Aaron Schatz elaborated on this in his ESPN article. It remains to be seen if the Panthers will ultimately sign Stewart for the predicted value, but it would be a significant victory for the team if they are able to secure the defensive tackle for the next season.
