Next season, the Buffalo Bills might benefit from adding another wide receiver to bolster their offensive line. If rumours from their division rivals are to be believed, they may be able to do so.
Kendrick Bourne, who graduated from Eastern Washington, was coveted by the Buffalo Bills when he initially became available to sign free agents in 2021, but the New England Patriots ended up signing him. Buffalo has another chance this summer, but another AFC East competitor is probably going to follow.
One person with knowledge of the wide receiver market claims that Bourne’s past suggests the Pats could lose him to a division rival if they decide not to re-sign him. Andrew Callahan was contacted by the Boston Herald.
“A Patriots source claimed that their front office received trade calls at the conclusion of training camp in 2022 and 2023, and the Jets were among the teams that expressed interest in Bourne over the last 18 months.” He said, “The Pats retained Bourne through his ACL tear late last October by informing those teams, notably the Raiders and Rams, that he was not available.
For the New England Patriots, Kendrick Bourne has been a dependable contributor ever since turning down the Buffalo Bills in 2021. Bourne recorded 127 receptions for 1,640 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 41 games over his three seasons in New England.
Kendrick Bourne was the leader in receptions (37), receiving yards (406), and touchdowns (4) for the New England Patriots prior to rupturing his ACL against the Miami Dolphins in October of last year.
Prior to this summer, Bourne stated that he would be willing to join again with the New England Patriots.
During the Patriots Talk Podcast last month, Bourne stated, “All my years they helped me grow tremendously in my life, personally, emotionally, everything, mentally, as a football player, and I want to be back in that.”
But as far as the negotiations are concerned, neither side has been “eye-to-eye,” according to Mark Daniels, Chris Mason, and Karen Guregian of MassLive.
Who are the Buffalo Bills’ other wide receiver options?
The Buffalo Bills need to acquire a weapon to complement Stefon Diggs since they anticipate losing Gabe Davis and Trent Sherfield to free agency.
