Dave Canales eliminated any possibility that Russell Wilson, who is about to be released by the Denver Broncos, will be pursued by the Carolina Panthers.
Canales coached Wilson at quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks during both of their careers.
The coach eliminated any possibility that Wilson would travel to Charlotte in order to muck up the Bryce Young experiment, even in light of the past.
On the Up & Adams programme on Wednesday, Canales stated, “This is not the situation for Russ.”
However, I will say this about him: I truly appreciate him for taking that risk and seizing the chance to travel to Denver. I’m in awe of the bravery required to declare, “I’m going to venture outside of my comfort zone.”
Guys like myself, who lived with him in Seattle for many years, can attest to the sense of security that comes from knowing exactly what he will ask for and being able to anticipate his requests. He truly took a chance on himself by trying something new to see what might develop from it. Hey, the movie is out there, but I really give him credit for what that turned into.
Canales is said to be a whisperer of quarterbacks.
He was brought in by the Panthers to aid in Young’s rebuilding after he had one of the worst rookie seasons in recent NFL history.
It makes sense for the Panthers to pass on Wilson. He’s passed his best. Since leaving Seattle, he’s been ineffective. In addition, Young still possesses the skill to develop into a competent NFL quarterback in the future.
