The Panthers recently added edge rusher D.J. Wonnum after trading Brian Burns to the Giants. While many see Wonnum as Burns’ replacement in the team’s defense, Wonnum sees things differently. In a recent press conference, he emphasized his focus on personal growth rather than taking over someone else’s role. Wonnum said he aims to be the best version of himself and believes he has the skills to excel in various aspects of the game.
Clearly, by being here and playing here, I can demonstrate my abilities. The Carolina Panthers and I have a promising future ahead. While playing alongside Danielle Hunter in Minnesota for the past four years, Wonnum achieved a total of 23 sacks. Even though he currently doesn’t have a comparable teammate in Carolina, there is hope that Wonnum can reach new heights and make an even bigger contribution.
