The Buffalo Bills signed veteran centre Will Clapp on Friday afternoon, strengthening their offensive line in front of Josh Allen.
The 27-year-old Clapp played for the Los Angeles Chargers during the previous campaign, where he only gave up one sack in 702 offensive snaps. Pro Football Focus notes that in the 2023 season, Clapp gave up just 24 quarterback pressures.
Clapp will probably compete to be the offensive guard that the Bills swing on when they need excellent depth behind Connor McGovern, their veteran centre.
Selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 2018 NFL Draft, Clapp has played in 65 games during his NFL career and now joins the Buffalo Bills after two seasons with the Chargers. Quarterback Josh Allen is highly regarded in the NFL, demanding his offensive linemen to always be alert. Even his teammate, tight end Dalton Kincaid, acknowledges that Allen’s improvisational skills keep plays alive until the whistle blows. Kincaid mentioned on FanDuel’s Up and Adams show that understanding Allen’s preferences in real game situations is crucial, emphasizing Allen’s exceptional abilities on the field. In the previous season, Allen threw for 4,306 yards with 29 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
