The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Friday that they have agreed to a three-year contract extension with defenceman Simon Benoit worth $4.05 million. The deal carries an average annual value of $1.35 million. Benoit, 25, has recorded a goal and four assists in 54 games with the Maple Leafs this season, averaging 16 minutes and 55 seconds of ice time. This marks his first season with Toronto after playing the first three years of his career with the Anaheim Ducks. Throughout his 191 NHL games, the Laval, Que. native has accumulated five goals and 20 points.
