Following the departures of Tre’Davious White and Dane Jackson in free agency, the Buffalo Bills are facing a significant need for help at cornerback. White dealt with several injuries over the past few years but was a key player in the Bills’ secondary for seven seasons, while Jackson had established himself as a consistent contributor over the last four years.
Now, the Bills are turning to the upcoming draft to address their cornerback situation. They have already had a pre-draft meeting with Pittsburgh cornerback MJ Devonshire, whom they also had an informal meeting with at the NFL Combine, as reported by Bills writer Ryan Talbot.
Devonshire, who played five years in college split between Kentucky and Pittsburgh, is coming off a standout season with four interceptions and ten pass breakups. Standing at 5’11” and weighing 190 pounds, the senior is projected to be a Day 3 pick, much like Jackson was.
Despite his projected draft position, Devonshire impressed at the combine with a 4.45 40-yard dash and a 38.5” vertical, showcasing both athleticism and production. With 11 total draft picks at their disposal, including multiple selections in various rounds, the Bills have ample opportunities to bolster their cornerback depth. Keep an eye on Devonshire as a potential target for Buffalo in the upcoming draft.
