During the 2023 NFL season and beyond, fans of the Buffalo Bills, known as the Bills Mafia, have been expressing the opinion that head coach Sean McDermott should be replaced, with the belief that quarterback Josh Allen’s exceptional talent makes coaching easy. This raises the question of how Josh Allen would have fared if he had been the quarterback of the underperforming Bills teams of the past, such as the 2015 squad. In 2015, the Bills, under new head coach Rex Ryan, finished with an 8-8 record and missed the playoffs. The team underwent significant changes in coaching personnel and defensive schemes, with mixed results. Offensively, the Bills were fairly efficient, ranking 11th in the league in points per drive, but their defense struggled, placing 14th in points allowed per drive. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s performance was solid, but the team’s passing game was limited by their run-first approach. Additionally, the team had issues with sacking opposing quarterbacks and generating turnovers.
