This summer, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed former Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs centre Mitch Morse to replace Luke Fortner, making a significant boost to the offensive line.
Morse has experienced success on a number of strong teams and at some of the largest football stages.
What precisely are the Jaguars receiving in Morse, though? Bills Central’s Nathaniel Marrero explains it to us.
What is Mitch Morse’s strongest suit?
Marrero: Road grader Mitch Morse was one of the football team’s top run blocks the previous season. He ranked tenth among interior offensive lineman according to ESPN, with a run-block victory percentage of 74 percent. Morse can help create some openings for Travis Ettienne Jr. for the Jaguars offence, which struggled to carry the ball and only averaged 96.8 rushing yards per contest.
What shortcomings does Mitch Morse have?
Marrero: Pro Football Focus reports that in 2023, he gave up one sack and 31 pressures, thus his pass blocking may use some improvement. Josh Allen is a part of that.holding onto the ball and scrambling to buy time, but if there’s one weakness to Morse’s game, it’s in pass blocking.
