Miles Sanders, a running back, was not given any favours by the Carolina Panthers in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Carolina selected Texas running back Jonathan Brooks in the second round, bringing another dynamic threat to a backfield that also featured Chuba Hubbard, who was coming off a successful 2023 year.
Sanders was the odd man out because Brooks was chosen so high in the draft; nonetheless, in the 2023 offseason, Sanders inked a four-year, $25.4 million deal with the Panthers. But after the draft, general manager Dan Morgan put an end to any speculation that Sanders would be leaving soon.
“We have a lot of confidence in Miles,” Morgan expressed. “We believe he can bring a significant impact to our offense. Miles is a versatile player both in the passing game and as a runner, and we are looking forward to what he can contribute.”
While Morgan did not rule out the possibility of Carolina considering trade offers, he emphasized that the team holds Sanders in high regard, despite criticisms of his performance in the previous season. The team values Sanders, especially given his past success with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Sanders’ trade value is currently low due to his contract and recent performance, the Panthers are not actively seeking to trade him at the moment. Despite a challenging year and competition from Hubbard and Brooks, Sanders is still part of the team’s plans for the upcoming season.
