In the 2024 NFL offseason, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane made a determined attempt to stretch his team’s window for a title, trading in a number of reliable starters to reset both the team’s financial and on-field clocks.
Some saw the team’s decisions as a setback; they traded away players like Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White, Mitch Morse, and Gabriel Davis, mostly for value free agents, rookies, and contributors who were already on the squad. A person who isn’t closely following the club could easily conclude that Buffalo isn’t in a position to contend in 2024 given the team’s noticeable amount of change.
Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report is one of the analysts that wonders if the Bills made too many changes too quickly. In a recent piece titled “Every NFL team’s biggest storyline to follow after minicamp,” the analyst stated that it is important to monitor the adjustments that Buffalo has made.
Fowler stated, “Gone are linebacker Tyrel Dodson, edge rusher Leonard Floyd, safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Tre’Davious White, and wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, all of whom served as core contributors on either side of the ball.” This summer, Bills general manager Brandon Beane made it very evident that qualifying for the divisional round is insufficient. As Buffalo continues to struggle in the playoffs against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, Beane can only hope that the new look roster will help Head coach Sean McDermott finally get over the hump
